GENERAL SOCIETY OF COLONIAL WARS OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR GENERAL 9 ASHBURTON PLACE, BOSTON 8, MASS. 22 May 1953 Dr. ARTHUR ADAMS REGISTRAR GENERAL Dear Mr. Bason, It is a very real pleasure to have your letter and especially to know that you are feeling so well. That is good indeed. I dread the thought of an operation unspeakably, but modern surgery often does wonders, and I am happy that it worked out that way for you. I did find in unpacking cartons sent up from Hartford, some of them, Mr. Thomas Holt Haywood, Sr.'s paper. I assigned to him Number 11734 in the General Society. I am sorry there was a confusion- my thinking at first there was only one Thomas Holt Hay- ward. I have never had from the North Cs,rolina Society a date of election for either of the two men. If you can give me a date of” election, I will enter the same date for the two men. Yes, "Walter" is a puzzle. For a time, he wrote me almost every day. Then he stopped writing and I have not heard from him since I last heard from you- before this letter. I hope you can put some life or activity into the North Carolina Society. It is my pet baby, you know. I shall be very glad to hear from you at any time about your own genealogical problem or about anything else. Cordially yours,
