Horton Rountree North Carolina General Assembly House of Representatives Legislative Building Raleigh, North Carolina Dear Representative Rountree: I am in the process of writing each member of the General Assembly in my troop and apprising the members of the_activi- ties of the Patrol and the accidents that occurred in 197? on a local level. You probably are aware of this information; however, I thought perhaps it might be of interest to you. I have attached hereto information regarding activities of the Highway Patrol and the accident situation in _Pitt and Greene Counties in 1972. You wilI note that we had 41 per- sons killed in the two counties that you represent, with over 600 persons injured. During this time, the Patrol in both counties made a total of 7,322 arrests, which included 578 persons that were apprehended for driving under the influence. I hope this information will be of help and assistance to you in any safety legislation that comes before the House.
