P. O. Box 600 Kaduna, Nigeria May 13, 1975 Dear Friends: Time has passed so quickly since I returned in Oct-: ober after a six months’ furlough. I chose this option after 35 months service here. It was too short a time to see as many of you as I wanted to see or speak in as many places as usual. Thank you for all you meant-:to me in mak- ing it a happy one and for the ways you blessed my life in the things you did for the wrk and for me. How strength- eningit was to see how you remember to pray and how you give through the Cooperative-Programme and Lottie Moon Offerings for foreign missions. I want to thank each of you for your letters, cards and all the ways you remember me, especially do I thank you for praying. THE WORK HAS GROWN: The work has grown so much and is such a big challenge and responsibility. These 7 months back have been busy with happy trips to various States for AssociationalW.M.Umeetings, Conferences, Camps, committee meetings and opportunities to teach missions through Women's Missionary Union work. I have noticed an increase in giving. Salaries of people have increased. Prices have increased too! NEW CAR MADE POSSIBLE: WhenI returned, a new Opel Rekord car was made possible for my use. THANK YOU for your offerings through our Board which make these cars possible. I have travelled to Manyareas in it where sometimes there is not really much of a road, mostly a wide path, but the car has "performed" excellently. I have some good times in the work and fellowship with the people as I help in meetings, staying in homes, or at a little room at the church, or in the home of a mission-—- ary or at a Rest House (like a motel). PRAY for the translation, printing and.distributionof W.M.U literature in the Hausa language which is a big part of the work. BUILDING OF PASTOR'S HOME: There's been much enthusiasm at my home church here in a new thrust in giving toward the building of a home for our pastor and his family. Members have helped make the cement blocks and will soon start build- ing with them. OUR PASTOR'S WIFE, who is also GA Director for the 5 Northern States, is among those from the W.M.U chosen to attend the Baptist World Alliance meetings in Stockholm, Sweden in July. We are helping her get ready to go. PRAY for these meetings. A VISIT TO THOSE OFTEN FORGOTTEN: As done for several years now, on New Year's Day, started through some Christ- ian friends in America who sent money to use for some needy at the Christmas. Season, some Nigerian women from my Chur- ch and I visited the women and girls on the mentally ill ward of the hospital here in Kaduna. We sang a Christmas song, one woman explained the meaning of Christmas, one prayed and then we gave each patient an orange and a cake of soap. These members of our church WMS joined in the project this year by buying the oranges. I wish each of you could have seen the faces of the patients “brighten up" as the gifts were given. We feel that these who are often for- gotten by others, need our love and concern. PRAY for them. COOKING CLASS: As a member of the Women's International Club of Kaduna, I am in the Cooking Class. Recently I demon- strated the cooking of a hamburger pie and corn bread in my home. The women from various countries were delighted with the results. It is a joy to know these women, be friends with them, and also have opportunities to witness for Christ among them, } A LANDROVER FOR “SIERRA LEONE, W. AFRICA: As a part of the celebration of their 50th Anniversary Year, the GAs in Nigeria, with the help of the women, are giving money to buy a Landrover for the Nigerian Baptist Foreign Mission work in Sierra Leone. PRAY for this work. LENDING LIBRARY: The library continues to be used of the Lord, with the addition of new books from some of you friends, and buying some more here made possible by others of you, and now the addition of some tape recordings some of you made possible. PRAY that in this way more may be reached for Christ and Christians strengthened. The other day one of our fine Christian women rushed into my house from a long line of cars waiting for gasoline (there's been a shortage for months!) on the main street in front of my house and said "Give me a book from your library to read while I wait in line." I have found great joy in giv- ing some people Bibles, leaflets, and books which some of you made possible for them. PRAY for those who are receiv- ing them. You are involved in the work as you help in these ways. Sincerely,
