My dear Miss Parham:

Your letter of the 7th came pwomptly, but arrived
while 1 was absent from Nashville attending the General Conference
of our church in Dallas, Texas. 4 am replying at the earliest
possible moment to ssy that it is probable I shall not be at Lake
Junaluska this summer. ‘the indications are that it will be necessary

for me to go to South America, probably leaving about the middle
of July.

Of course, 1 am interested in your desire to know

something about the work in Africa and 1 an wondering if you have
ever indicated to Mrs. Downs that you would like a change of field.
I think you can realize that I would want you to make the way clear with

her before going into the matter of a foreign field with you seriously.
I shall be glad to hear from youat any time.
