OF hiCGie Oran ba VIG Eo PRE Salo N 3: WASHINGTON September 6, 1951 Mr, Kermit Hunter, Peas DO, WAC; Petersburg, Illinois, e My dear Mr. Hunter: Let me thank you for your gracious letter of August 17, I am glad to know that what I had to say about your production was helpful and appropriate. I really did enjoy the production and, as I told Governor Stevenson, it is one of those things that sinks in on you and stays with you. I hope that it will continue to be produced, not only in New Salem, but in other places. I do not know just how this can be brought about but I am sure - that if every American could see it, it would create a deeper appreciation of the fundamental basis our fore- fathers laid for American democracy. If it should be in production next year when I hope to attend the State Fair again, I certainly shall undertake to see it and I hope Mrs, Barkley will be able to enjoy it with me, With every good wish and congratulating you upon the noble conception which brought forth this production, I am Cordially yours, Weiss Atay
