Che News and Cunrirr ESTABLISHED 1803 ies : CHARLEST 24S: EpDiIroriAL Rooms i ON, S G THE NEWS AND CoUuRIER COMPANY PUBLISHERS 22 June 1949 Mr. J. B. Hutson Tobacco Associates, Inc. Washington, D. C. Dear Sire The News and Courier is planning 4 tobacco supplement to run sometime before the selling sea- son opens. I am not certain whether it will be July 17 or July 24. I wonder if you would have prepared for it a brief statement of the aims, aspirations and accomplishments of Tobacco Associates. I am interested in having it present as authoritative a forecast as possible of the export outlook for the new crop. 1 understand that this picture is clouded. Nevertheless, most of the 30-odd thousand planters in eastern South Carolina will be keenly interested in the préspects. Since the supplement may run before your referen- dum (or the day after it) I reckon prospects are about the best basis for the p&éecs, unless, of course, you have a better idea. In any event, I think about 700-800 words should do it; and it would be needed by July 7. Very truly yours, Francis B, Taylor State News Editor
