When we were ready to return to the campus, we stood at Five Points and disagreed about how to get back to the College----and she was right. It has been that same way many times since, Many of you too have known her a long time and want that knowing to continue because you hold her in such high regard. As a group of college women we naturally admire the person who is never satisfied, as she is never satisfied, with what she knows but always wants to enlarge her horizons. She seeks with Ulysses, as Tennyson makes him say, "that untravell'd world, whose margin fades forever and forever as I move," She is always becoming aware of something else she wants to learn, We admire and rather envy the person of whom I speak because she can work so happily with other people, and because she has, to a marked degree, the gift of finding the right word te clarify the thinking of a group and sometimes to relieve the tension of the moment, She is always ready to compro- mise, ao long as it does not mean compromising with the high standards she holds. She is sensitive to the needs and sorrows of her friends, of her students, and of the peoples of the world alike, and is sometimes bowed down in grief for the grief of others, But I think she must say with Edna St. Vincent Millay, If I would help the weak, I must be fed In wit and purpose, pour away despair And rinse the cup, eat happiness like bread, She is basically a happy person because of the spirit that is in her, and she has added much joy and happiness to many lives. When we as members of Delta Kappa Gamma choose to honor Lois Grigsby, as she nears retirement, we honor ourselves, in showing that we too are reach= ing toward the highest values we can find. We hope, Lois, that our gift will be a shining reminder of our love and admiration for you. We expect to hold you to your promise to spend much time in Greenville, We count on having you in Delta Kappa Gamma meetings next year. By Louise Williams Expansion Tt the suggestion of the Expansion Committee and the approval of the Executive Board, Mrs. West appointed the following committee to serve as the Coordinating group to assure that no duplicate invitations for membership will be given: President of Delta plus Membership Chairman President of Beta Alpha plus the Membership Chairman Expansion Chairman Kkingenschmitt State Representatives Mrs. Emmons brought greetings from Eta State and complimented the thorough work which had been done to make this period of transition as easy one, The former State President told of sharing in the happy occasion when Miss Emma L. Hooper was honored at the North Carolina Education Association Meeting in Asheville by the Future Peachers at the 25th Anniversary, Miss Edith Gilbert spoke briefly.
