"Joe,
See this message from the eminent historian, Robert Fox:
Dear Maury
John Smedley of Ashagte, the publisher of the second volume of Harriot lectures, has been in touch about the image from ECU's DeBry Harriot that he and I should like to use on the cover of the book. The image is the one in your online image no. 26, the one headed ""Anglorum in Virginiam adventus"". For Ashgate's purposes, a high-resolution image of the kind you proposed in our earlier corerspondence is what is required.
My problem is that while I can read the form on which to place my order and request your formal agreement, I have not found a way of printing it. This is exceedingly frustrating and embarrassing. But I am afraid that I am right up against the limits of my competence and experience with computers ... and this problem is beyond me.
I can of course give you the essential information in an email message, if that is acceptable. Alternatively, you may be able to fax a copy of the form to me on +44 1865 512787. Then I could complete the form and fax it back to you. Even there, though, I have some anxiety, since my fax machine is ancient and may well not work. But at least it may be an alternative.
I am sorry to bother you with such a tiresome question.
I assume incidentally that John Smedley does not have the image from you already. That was the implication of his message to me. There is always the possibility of some crossing of wires here.
Since we are now rapidly entering the production stage of the volume, I am writing in a modest level of panic. John Smedley's message to me suggests that there is something I should have done that I have not done, and he is probably right.
I hope you won't mind trying to help me out of this hole!
With best wishes
Robert
Anything you can do to get this image to Dr. Fox will be greatly appreciated!
Maury
