Cadets were given the opportunity to plan and conduct their own training activities. This leadership training involved problem analyzing, drill and ceremonies, public speaking, and group leadership projects in order to promote flight cohesion, spirit de corps, and military customs.
56421 25.15.5.249... Physical Training undated In order to prepare to be a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force, cadets make an effort to enhance their physical fitness daily. These cadets are participating in a PT session near Mendenhall on main campus.
56422 25.15.4.1.004... Women in the AFROTC circa 1969 In 1969, Detachment 600 was chosen as one of five detachments in the U.S. to accept women. Martha Van Hoy (pictured here) was the first woman in East Carolina's AFROTC program. The first female AFROTC cadets became part of Angel Flight, an honorary organization comprised of over 3,000 women from 100 schools in the United States.
