The A.C. Monk & Company/A.C. Monk Family Collection (#1285) was donated by William C. Monk, Jr., and consists of material related to the tobacco company in Farmville, N.C., and the family. Mr. Monk was promised that Joyner Library would scan all the photographs and provide him and his family access to them. Unfortunately, there a great deal of photographs and negatives. There are 240 negatives and 604 photographs, although I will say that most and possibly all of the negatives have the photographs made from them with them.

The preservation/conservation staff has gone through the photographs already and removed the frames except where they needed to remain with the photograph for scanning purposes. They have also housed the material in archival housing. I have removed sticky note identifications and added explanations if known (for example, explained who "Ma" is).

This job is only being used as an overview for the boxes/and folders from this collection that will be submitted. New jobs will be created as box/folders/groups of items are submitted. Joe B 12/21/21
