Description
A researcher has requested scans of a folder of material from the William E. Elmore Collection. The folder contains correspondence, financial records, and other items (1831-1875) related to the life of Appleton Oaksmith who lived a colorful life as a sea captain, a businessman, Civil War blockade runner, and had an estate in Beaufort County. Several researchers have used the material and I think it warrants being put online.

One of the photocopies was scanned to help with readability. The original and the photocopy are included in PID 50857.
Offline Note
One of the letters is very faint and photocopies of it have been made years ago and added to the folder to make it easier for the researchers to read it. There isn't any need to digitize the photocopies if the digital image is good enough.
