There's a fellow from Elizabeth City who's purchased two Civil War era prints of Fort Hatteras and Fort Clark on the OBX circa 1863. He's interested in working with me (us) to see if we can find hidden images as Michael Reece and I did in the Wright brothers photographs.
He's a teacher and a high school football coach (partly retired) and has Thursday off from his school in Elizabeth City. He'd like to drive up here on Thursday to bring the pictures to have high resolution scans done. There are two related photos (negatives I think) in the State Archives that we are getting high density scans from those as well--being done in Raleigh.
Would it be possible for you to meet with him and me briefly sometime between 12:30 and 2 pm to take a look at the photos? He's willing to leave them with us. But I'd feel better if you saw them ahead of time to make sure it's feasible and worthwhile. No need to do the scans at the moment. But you'll know what to do when you see them.
This just sprang up in the last two days and then I just learned 10 minutes ago that he could come up here tomorrow. Sorry to spring this on you. I do not know the protocol in your shop right now nor who to ask if there is a layered procedural process.
Let me know. If that time slot does not work, I have to come to your area at 4 pm to do a TV shoot. So an alternative time would be between 3:30 and 4 pm. But I need to let him know if that's going to be the time. The way I've left it with him, he is coming here tomorrow at least to leave the photos with me and so that we can meet--even if nothing else can be scheduled.
