Sawyer, Sr., as a Avionic Inertial & Radar Nav Sys Tech on a USAF plane during the overrunning of a base (DaNang or Phan Ran) during the Vietnam War.  Mr. Sawyer of Belhaven, Beaufort Co., N.C., entered service April 16, 1968, and served in Vietnam and later in Okinawa.  He retired from service July 31, 1972.
