<p>November 6, 1967<lb /><lb /><lb /><lb />David C. Schechter, M.D.<lb />208 Anderson Street<lb />Hackensack, New Jersey<lb /><lb /><lb /><lb />Dear Dr. Schechter<lb /><lb />I was happy to receive your letter and the news about your<lb />doings. I talked to Walt Lillehei at his "funeral celebration"<lb />in Minneapolis, which of course was sine dean, etc., and those<lb />who blackballed him over there and actually some even tried at<lb />Cornell. He took a goodly group with him to New York and really<lb />did not have thus far anything particularly attractive to offer.<lb />I expect to be in New York in the near future and I hope that you<lb />will be in town for a get-together, If there are any particularly<lb />good musicals, let me know, I certainly would appreciate some<lb />help for a ticket. If not, a good concert will do - preferably<lb />not orchestra, rather chamber music, violin or piano or solo-<lb />instrument with orchestra, I will let you know the exact date.<lb /><lb />There are a few potential jobs that I was offered but mostly<lb />a'la Albert Einstein in Philadelphia. Things are coming along<lb />pretty well over here - only out of the normal case I had was<lb />an excision of myocardial infaretion, now six months postop doing<lb />famously. I also am in full swing of my first draft of Billroth's<lb />biography, 2000 pages dictated and now cutting out excesses<lb />whieh I hate to part with.<lb /><lb />My historical library is growing pretty well, I have nov<lb />a Sylvius' Epitome, Vigo, Wurtz, Larrey (with his handwritten<lb />dedication) Leander's (Volkmanns) dedication handwritten in verse<lb />to Billroth, etc. You would love it! Let me know if you are<lb />going to be in town in the next few weeks. Best regards!<lb /><lb />Sincerely<lb /><lb />Karel B. Absolon, M.D.<lb /><lb />KBA:bc<lb /></p>
