Box 5999<lb />Dallas, Texas 75222<lb /><lb />Dear Karel:<lb /><lb />What a surprise to receive your note of March 30. It certainly is ashame that we have<lb />not met since Yale 1950. How are your relatives in Stamford? How is your life evolving -<lb />personally and professionally? You apparently have chosen a scientific career.<lb /><lb />Thanks for asking about my father. He died on November 23, 1963 a few hours before Kennedy<lb />was murdered. Eva sends her best. She remembers you. We have had 20 mixed years of<lb />beauty, hardship, hard work, etc. - the way life is. Of our three children, the two boys<lb />age 10 and 1% are well; our daughter Elizabeth died age 12 after a life of torture from<lb />intractable asthma. Her life and end have in part motivated my interests in critical care<lb />medicine.<lb /><lb />Your plan to write a treatise on the development of Emergency Medical Transportation from<lb />historic times is a laudable one. I have not seen a good historic paper on this subject.<lb />Enclosed is some of the material you requested.<lb /><lb />If I get to Dallas, I'1l call you. You do the same if you should come North. Perhaps you<lb />would like to attend our May Symposium (enclosed).<lb /><lb />Best wishes.<lb />Cordially,<lb /><lb />Peter Safar, M.D.<lb />Professor &amp; Chairman<lb /><lb />PS/sp<lb /><lb />Enclosures- May Symposium<lb />Reprints <lb /></p>
