<p>UNIVERSITY OF Minnesota<lb /><lb />MEDICAL SCHOOL<lb />DEPARTMENT OF SURGERY * MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA 55455<lb />January 11, 1967<lb /><lb /><lb /><lb />Dr. Karel B. Absolon<lb />2714 West Tenth Street<lb />Amarillo, Texas 79106<lb /><lb />Dear Karel:<lb /><lb />It certainly was nice to hear from you and] am glad that you are so busy. Your<lb />schedule certainly sounds "A - O.K.", The Graubard's told me about their visit<lb />with you and they were certainly impressed with the place and felt that you were<lb />doing a very good job!<lb /><lb />Your complication in that tetralogy of Fallot can certainly occur. You see, the<lb />septal limb of the crista supraventricularis arch@ i in a somewhat more acute<lb />angle towards the tricuspid valve in tetralogy of Fallot and the aortic valve ring<lb />is really immediately behind this structure, It is because of this that I prefer<lb />not to resect this part of the infundibulum but to incise it hoping to unfold and thus<lb />liberate the outflow chamber.<lb /><lb />Things here are still uncertain. It seems to me that Doctor Najarian is the most<lb />likely successor according to local rumors, Doctor Wangensteen feels unhappy<lb />that the Committee would not have considered more seriously one of his Products.<lb />I must say that amongst so many oustanding individuals who came out of this<lb />Program, some worthwhile successor to Dr. Wangensteen could certainly have<lb />been found. Apparently, many Members of the Committee, including the Dean,<lb />felt that 'new blood'' was needed.<lb /><lb />Well Karel, it was nice to hear from you. Please give my regards to your family<lb />and hoping to see you soon in some Meeting.<lb /><lb />Sincerely yours,<lb /><lb />Aldo R. Castaneda, M.D.<lb />Associate Professor of Surgery<lb /><lb />ARC/mb<lb /></p>
