I studied medi-cine at the Tokyo Medical and Dental University School of Medicinefrom which I was graduated and received the degree of M.D. in 1956.Subsequently I served for one year as a rotating intern in the Hos-pital of the same university. Having passed the National Board Exa-mination, I was admitted to the Department of Surgery of the TokyoMedical and Dental University as an assistant. The chairman of theDepartment is Prof, Kenkichi Kawashima. I have since been working inthis department, I have been performing operations and carrying outexaminations in surgical pathology, and have done experimental researchwork on the extra-corporeal circulation and transplantation. I havepublished fifteen papers. I received the degree of " Igakuhakushi "( Doctor of Medical Science ) in 1961.I have long desired to work on the problems of transplantation ofthe liver in a laboratory such as yours, where original work has beenconstantly produced. Prof. Kawashima suggests that I ask you for aposition in your Hospital.
