        <p>August 18, 1967<lb /><lb />Alton Ochsner, M.D.<lb />Ochsner Clinic<lb />1514 Jefferson Highway<lb />New Orleans, La. 70121<lb /><lb /><lb /><lb />Dear Dr. Ochsner<lb /><lb />I was touched by your words concerning the very elementary<lb />note on "Hunter, Billroth and Wangensteen," and I appreciated it.<lb />Every period has its heroes and Wangensteen, Ochsner, Blalock,<lb />Matas etc. were some of them in my era. The editorship of<lb />Surgery is an indicator who they were. There is another parallel<lb />of the past and present - Surgery vs. the Archiv f. Chirurgie.<lb /><lb />Individuality recedes and the idiosyncrasy of so called<lb />teamwork is gaining.
