Dear Fuad
I am told that there is a cardio-vascular-pulmonary surgical
opening in your institution. As you know my interest always was
in a full time clinical position with strong emphasis on teaching
and research, I am enclosing my curriculum vitae.
I have discussed the position with C. Walton Lillehei who is
anxious to support my application, if your school should express
interest. Dr. Owen Wangensteen of course was my chief from 1952
at Minnesota and followed or directed my activities, and with
Richard Lillehei I did quite a bit of work in Minnesota, both
in the operating room and the laboratory. With Dr. Maurice B. Vissher,
Professor of Physiology I did my study on cardiopulmonary
hemodynamics, which was the basis of my Phd and M.S. thesis.
I of course would want to know, at an appropriate time,
a bit more about the various facilities and the general atmosphere.
In any case it would be nice to work together again and I admit
that I long for academic endeavors.
