After my academic career atMinnesota, I did gain insight as surgeon in Amarillo intopractice of surgery. Amarillo is an ambitious community, but itwill need another 5-10 years before it truly will be able toembark on an effective teaching research - clinical program,which is my greater ambition.I am not bound by any agreements, etc., and thus I am a freeagent as to assuming a position. I of course do not know yourinstitution and I am sure that in the case of serious negotiationyou may want to look at me, and I look at you. I would be interestedto know about your general plans, research facility, fiscalsoundness, ete. If interested I would be very glad to present alecture on a topic including historical - surgical, educational(such as surgical training throughout the centuries), or clinicaltopics, (such as coronary angiography and myocardial revasculariza-tion, etc.).I do believe that institutions will progress more rapidlywith full time directors and this impression I gained having mytwo years in private surgical practice.
