<p>October 10, 1967<lb /><lb /><lb /><lb />Dr, Jaromir Vitek<lb />Centor A.P.S. - A.A.I.<lb />Capua (Caserta)<lb />Italy<lb /><lb /><lb /><lb />Dear Jaromir<lb /><lb />I was glad to hear from you, not so much about the various tragedies,<lb />I fortunately do not remember the people. I am sure I would<lb />recognize you of course if I should see you,<lb /><lb />At the age of 43 you may have a hard time getting accustomed<lb />anywhere. I of course love the United States and the principles<lb />it stands for. I believe that you should go somewhere, where you<lb />can in the shortest period of time gain a suitable occupation.<lb />Sweden appears to be the most convenient country as I helped.<lb />someone from Czechoslovakia get a job in surgery in Sweden, and<lb />he is satisfied.<lb /><lb />In the United States to get specialized in orthopedics you would<lb />need 1-2 years of internship and 3 years of orthopedics in an<lb />approved residency program. You of course could practice general<lb />medicine after one year internship in a small town or village,<lb />and practice orthopedics as part of your general practice,<lb />Financially this would be most rewarding. In any case you would<lb />have to take a licensure examination. Outside your diploma of<lb />Doctor of Medicine, which would be recognized in some states,<lb />your specialty training in orthopedics of course is not formally<lb />recognized in the U.S.<lb /><lb />If you should decide to come to the U.S., you should get now a<lb />"Certificate of examination for foreign medical graduates," which<lb />are given by various U.S. Embassies throughout the world. Please<lb />let me know if I could be of any further help to you.<lb /><lb />Sincerely<lb /><lb />Karel B, Absolon, M.D.<lb /><lb />KBA:bc<lb /></p>
