Thank you so much for your recent letter responding to our advertisement
for a thoracic surgeon. I must apologize to you for this delay in replying
to your letter but I have just returned from a commitment overseas and have
only begun to wade down through the accumulated stack of correspondence
which accumulated while I was away.
Your accomplishments are certainly extensive and your resume is a master-
piece.
The position for which you applied has very recently been filled, I am sorry
to say. Everything you have said in your resume is true, I am sure. One
of the problems that you would present is really massive over qualification
for the position we were seeking to fill. I feel sure that a person with
your leadership qualifications and past demonstrated achievement would find
that Assistant Professor's position at our Veterans Administration Hospital
quite restrictive. Your talents are surely suited to a much more important
position than we had to offer.
