        <p>PLEASE POST<lb /><lb />THE INDEPENDENT ELECTRONIC MUSIC CENTER, INC.<lb /><lb />We are pleased to announce the establishment of the<lb />Independent Electronic Music Center, incorporated as<lb />a non-profit organization. The Center is a completely<lb />autonomous affiliate of the R. A. Moog Co., manu-<lb />facturers of electronic music composition equipment.<lb /><lb />The purposes of the Center are: to introduce and pro-<lb />vide contemporary electronic media for music composi-<lb />tion; and, to stimulate communication among persons<lb />involved in various aspects of electronic music.<lb /><lb />The Center hopes to provide a complete range of services<lb />and facilities for composition and. communication.<lb />Included will be:<lb /><lb />The Electronic Music Review: a quarterly publica-<lb />tion providing a source of information and a means<lb /><lb />of discourse on electronic music among composers,<lb /><lb />technicians, teachers, performers, and listeners.<lb /><lb />It will present:<lb /><lb />- descriptions of the circuitry, construction, and<lb />applications of studio equipment<lb /><lb />- information on working methods and techniques<lb /><lb />- descriptions of equipment and facilities at<lb />various studios |<lb /><lb />- reports of various events, activities, and trends<lb /><lb />- articles on aesthetic, theoretic, and analytic<lb />aspects of electronic music<lb /><lb />- bibliographies and discographies<lb /><lb />- a letter-forum<lb /><lb />- news of the development of Center services and<lb />facilities.<lb />The Review will gladly consider manuscripts on any<lb />of the above topics. We invite prospective authors to<lb />request a copy of the leaflet Information for Con-<lb />tributors. The first issue will be published in January<lb />1967, and will contain complete subscription informa-<lb />tion. One free copy will be supplied per personal or<lb />institution departmental request.<lb /><lb />Courses of instruction in the principles and use of<lb /><lb />contemporary electronic media. The Center is de-<lb />veloping a preparatory curriculum to meet the needs<lb />of interested composers having little or no direct ex-<lb />perience with electronic composition equipment.<lb />These courses, complete with text materials, will con-<lb />sist of lectures, seminars, studio workshops, and possi-<lb />bly guest lectures. A more advanced program (in-<lb />cluding independent studio use) for those who have<lb />completed the preparatory course, as well as for com-<lb />posers having previous studio experience, will also be<lb />provided. Further information will be published in<lb />the Review.<lb /><lb />Trumansburg, New York 14886, U.S. A.<lb /><lb />June 1, 1966<lb /><lb />Library facilities: a reference collection of catalogued<lb />writings and recordings (the latter with listening<lb />facilities) available to all those studying or working at<lb />the Center. Included will be an archive of printed<lb />programs and reviews of electronic music concert and<lb />radio performances. The Center would greatly ap-<lb />preciate receiving materials for this archive.<lb /><lb />Studio facilities. Complete electronic composition<lb />studios will be available to participants in the instruc-<lb />tion program, The Center now has one complete<lb />studio available for private use. Interested composers<lb />are invited to request a copy of our brochure describ-<lb />ing the facilities and terms.<lb /><lb />Distribution of tapes. Those composers who wish to<lb />have copies of tapes and scores of their electronic<lb />compositions produced and sold (on a royalty basis)<lb />through the Center should contact the Center immed-<lb />iately. A distribution, duplication, and performance<lb />protection system is being devised. A catalog of avail-<lb />able tapes and scores will be announced in the<lb />Review.<lb /><lb />Visitors to the Center, presently located at the R. A.<lb />Moog Co., are welcome. Notice should be furnished at<lb />least two weeks in advance. Group visits (maximum 20<lb />persons) should be arranged at least four weeks in<lb />advance.<lb /><lb />The ultimate realization of the aims of the Center will<lb />largely depend upon your interest, response, and effective<lb />financial support.
