PLEASE POSTTHE INDEPENDENT ELECTRONIC MUSIC CENTER, INC.We are pleased to announce the establishment of theIndependent Electronic Music Center, incorporated asa non-profit organization. The Center is a completelyautonomous affiliate of the R. A. Moog Co., manu-facturers of electronic music composition equipment.The purposes of the Center are: to introduce and pro-vide contemporary electronic media for music composi-tion; and, to stimulate communication among personsinvolved in various aspects of electronic music.The Center hopes to provide a complete range of servicesand facilities for composition and. communication.Included will be:The Electronic Music Review: a quarterly publica-tion providing a source of information and a meansof discourse on electronic music among composers,technicians, teachers, performers, and listeners.It will present:- descriptions of the circuitry, construction, andapplications of studio equipment- information on working methods and techniques- descriptions of equipment and facilities atvarious studios |- reports of various events, activities, and trends- articles on aesthetic, theoretic, and analyticaspects of electronic music- bibliographies and discographies- a letter-forum- news of the development of Center services andfacilities.The Review will gladly consider manuscripts on anyof the above topics. We invite prospective authors torequest a copy of the leaflet Information for Con-tributors. The first issue will be published in January1967, and will contain complete subscription informa-tion. One free copy will be supplied per personal orinstitution departmental request.Courses of instruction in the principles and use ofcontemporary electronic media. The Center is de-veloping a preparatory curriculum to meet the needsof interested composers having little or no direct ex-perience with electronic composition equipment.These courses, complete with text materials, will con-sist of lectures, seminars, studio workshops, and possi-bly guest lectures. A more advanced program (in-cluding independent studio use) for those who havecompleted the preparatory course, as well as for com-posers having previous studio experience, will also beprovided. Further information will be published inthe Review.Trumansburg, New York 14886, U.S. A.June 1, 1966Library facilities: a reference collection of cataloguedwritings and recordings (the latter with listeningfacilities) available to all those studying or working atthe Center. Included will be an archive of printedprograms and reviews of electronic music concert andradio performances. The Center would greatly ap-preciate receiving materials for this archive.Studio facilities. Complete electronic compositionstudios will be available to participants in the instruc-tion program, The Center now has one completestudio available for private use. Interested composersare invited to request a copy of our brochure describ-ing the facilities and terms.Distribution of tapes. Those composers who wish tohave copies of tapes and scores of their electroniccompositions produced and sold (on a royalty basis)through the Center should contact the Center immed-iately. A distribution, duplication, and performanceprotection system is being devised. A catalog of avail-able tapes and scores will be announced in theReview.Visitors to the Center, presently located at the R. A.Moog Co., are welcome. Notice should be furnished atleast two weeks in advance. Group visits (maximum 20persons) should be arranged at least four weeks inadvance.The ultimate realization of the aims of the Center willlargely depend upon your interest, response, and effectivefinancial support.
