          <lb />MINUTES OF THE STAFF MEETING<lb />Psychology Department<lb />October 2. 1972<lb /><lb />The Psychology Departweat held ics October meeting in EP 104 at 4 o'clock,<lb />October 2, 1972.<lb /><lb />PRESENT: Mitchell, Hayes, Grossnickle, Means, Corwin, Lao, Malienbaum, Stapleton,<lb /><lb />Childers, Graham, Long, Tacker, Daugherty, Moore, and Higgins.<lb /><lb />Dr. Mitchell presided and the following items of business were discussed:<lb /><lb />1.<lb /><lb />36<lb /><lb />10.<lb /><lb />Mrs. Hayes was recognized and spoke briefly about the United Fund drive. The<lb />pledge cards were distributed and she announced that the final date for report~-<lb />ing was October 23 and if anyone had an questions to please contact her, or 1f<lb />they desired they could return the pledge cards to her Departmental mail box.<lb /><lb />Dr. Mitchell announced that the Department was going to study the undergraduate<lb />curriculum and if anyone had any changes they wished to be made to give them to<lb />Dr. Grossnickle, Chairman of the Departmental Curriculum Committee, for con-<lb />sideration. This Committee is to meet to consider the changes felt necessary<lb />and report back to the staff at a later date.<lb /><lb />Dr. Means announced that the first colloquium of this academic year would meet<lb />Monday, October 9 at 4 p. m. in Home Economics Building, Room 205. He further<lb />stated that the program would consist of reports on research that is currently<lb />being done in the laboratory. A discussion was held as to whether or not to<lb />invite all upperclass students and whether to give credit for attendance. It<lb />was decided that voluntary attendance meant sincere interest and also that the<lb />room would not accommodate more than 40 people and perhaps only faculty and<lb />graduate students should be urged to attend at this time; although others would<lb />be welcome on a space available basis.<lb /><lb />Dr. Lao announced that the Chancellor's Advisory Council would meet at 4 p. @.,<lb />October 10, 1972 and anyone having items they woul� like placed on the agenda<lb />to please leave them in her Departmental mail box.<lb /><lb />Dr. Mitchell asked for a Departmental policy to be established relative to the<lb />use of Departmental films by other departments and students. After a general<lb />discussion it was decided that films that professors did not wish loaned should<lb />be placed on a list in the Departmental Office, others should be loaned when<lb />asked for.<lb /><lb />Dr. Mitchell announced that a sign-up sheet had been prepared and anyone de-<lb />siring to use Departmental equipment should sign on this sheet before removing<lb />the piece of equipment from the office.<lb /><lb />Dr. Moore announced that the comprehensives examination would be given either<lb />the latter part of October or the first of November.<lb /><lb />Dr. Mitchell reviewed the status of the Departmental budget.<lb />Dr. Mitchell stated that he had a copy of the undargraduate end graduate<lb /><lb />catalogs in his office for correction and invited staff members to look at it<lb />for any changes they felt necessary.<lb /><lb />Dr. Mitchell announced that he had been asked to present to the faculty for<lb />consideration their thoughts on changing che number of hours required �6 earn</p>
