MINUTES OF THE STAFF MEETINGPsychology DepartmentOctober 2. 1972The Psychology Departweat held ics October meeting in EP 104 at 4 o'clock,October 2, 1972.PRESENT: Mitchell, Hayes, Grossnickle, Means, Corwin, Lao, Malienbaum, Stapleton,Childers, Graham, Long, Tacker, Daugherty, Moore, and Higgins.Dr. Mitchell presided and the following items of business were discussed:1.3610.Mrs. Hayes was recognized and spoke briefly about the United Fund drive. Thepledge cards were distributed and she announced that the final date for report~-ing was October 23 and if anyone had an questions to please contact her, or 1fthey desired they could return the pledge cards to her Departmental mail box.Dr. Mitchell announced that the Department was going to study the undergraduatecurriculum and if anyone had any changes they wished to be made to give them toDr. Grossnickle, Chairman of the Departmental Curriculum Committee, for con-sideration. This Committee is to meet to consider the changes felt necessaryand report back to the staff at a later date.Dr. Means announced that the first colloquium of this academic year would meetMonday, October 9 at 4 p. m. in Home Economics Building, Room 205. He furtherstated that the program would consist of reports on research that is currentlybeing done in the laboratory. A discussion was held as to whether or not toinvite all upperclass students and whether to give credit for attendance. Itwas decided that voluntary attendance meant sincere interest and also that theroom would not accommodate more than 40 people and perhaps only faculty andgraduate students should be urged to attend at this time; although others wouldbe welcome on a space available basis.Dr. Lao announced that the Chancellor's Advisory Council would meet at 4 p. @.,October 10, 1972 and anyone having items they woul� like placed on the agendato please leave them in her Departmental mail box.Dr. Mitchell asked for a Departmental policy to be established relative to theuse of Departmental films by other departments and students. After a generaldiscussion it was decided that films that professors did not wish loaned shouldbe placed on a list in the Departmental Office, others should be loaned whenasked for.Dr. Mitchell announced that a sign-up sheet had been prepared and anyone de-siring to use Departmental equipment should sign on this sheet before removingthe piece of equipment from the office.Dr. Moore announced that the comprehensives examination would be given eitherthe latter part of October or the first of November.Dr. Mitchell reviewed the status of the Departmental budget.Dr. Mitchell stated that he had a copy of the undargraduate end graduatecatalogs in his office for correction and invited staff members to look at itfor any changes they felt necessary.Dr. Mitchell announced that he had been asked to present to the faculty forconsideration their thoughts on changing che number of hours required �6 earn
