          <lb />MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER STAFF MEETING<lb />Psychology Department<lb />September 8, 1969<lb /><lb />The Psychology Department held its September meeting at 10 o'clock in EP 104.<lb /><lb />PRESENT: Prewett, Stapleton, Harris, Rogers, Lathan, Steinberg, Martoccia,<lb />Kinzie, Higgins, Dixon, Moore, Tacker, Williams, Mitchell, Grossnickle,<lb />Daugherty, Hedges, Long, Whitley, and Corwin.<lb /><lb />Dr. Prewett introduced the new staff members in the Psychology Department: Dr.<lb />Betty Jane Corwin (Ph.D. - Ohio State) who will teach advanced educational<lb />psychology and introduction to psychological testing; Mr. Theodore W. Whitley<lb /><lb />who will assume the duties of Director of Testing and will teach half-time in the<lb />Department; and Mr. Jay Steinberg who will teach for the fall quarter only.<lb /><lb />Dr. Prewett also announced that Dr. Rosina Lao will join the staff in the winter<lb /><lb />quarter. Dr. Lao holds the Ph.D. Degree from Michigan State University in Social<lb />Psychology.<lb /><lb />The staff passed a resolution expressing congratulations to Dr. Calvert R. Dixon<lb />who earned his doctorate in developmental psychology from Florida State University<lb />and to Dr. Thomas E. Long who was awarded membership in the American Board of<lb />Examiners for Professional Psychologists.<lb /><lb />Dr. Mitchell announced that a meeting would be held for the teaching interns on<lb />Wednesday, September 10 at 4 o'clock.<lb /><lb />Dr. Charles H. Moore was elected the representative from the Psychology<lb />Department to the President's Advisory Council.<lb /><lb />Dr. Robert Stephen Tacker was appointed to the College of Arts and Sciences<lb />Curriculum Committee.<lb /><lb />The staff of the Psychology Department requested that the Departmental Office<lb />secretaries stagger their lunch hours so that Mrs. Kathy Bright take her lunch<lb />our from 11:50 until 12:50 and that Mrs. Brown take her lunch hour from 12:30<lb />"9 1:30. Such an arrangement would permit the secretary to be present for un-<lb />tocking the mimeograph room for 1 o'clock classes.<lb /><lb />Several staff members expressed a desire to have some barred-lock arrangement on<lb />the filing cabinets in their offices. The Chairman was authorized to consult<lb />with Dean Capwell in this regard.<lb /><lb />Various announcements were considered and plans were made for processing the<lb />registration of an anticipated record enrollment of freshmen.<lb /><lb />The staff voted to defer final consideration of the meeting date for the monthly<lb />staff meetings until sometime later.<lb /><lb />The meeting adjourned at 11 o'clock.<lb /><lb />ve<lb /><lb />@ ge 7 LAt.vt Le<lb /><lb />Clinton R.
