          <lb />@ MINUTES OF OCTOBER STAFF MEETING<lb /><lb />Psychology Department<lb />October 14, 1968<lb /><lb />The Psychology Department held its October meeting in EP 103 at 4 o'clock,<lb />October 14, 1968.<lb /><lb />PRESENT: Mitchell, Kinzie, Rogers, Martoccia, Steinberg, Dixon, Williams, Long,<lb />Grossnickle, Daugherty, Latham, Harris, Tacker, Stapleton, Khatena,<lb />Higgins, Prewett, Moore.<lb /><lb />Due to a conflict in meetings Dr. Prewett was unable to be present at the time<lb />the meeting convened and Dr. Mitchell presided.<lb /><lb />Dr. Mitchell announced that the purpose of the meeting was to go over some new<lb />course proposals and curriculum changes.<lb /><lb />The following proposals from Dr. Long and Dr. Moore were presented:<lb /><lb />New courses:<lb /><lb />Advanced Psychopathology ~- 476 (3). This course is structured to go<lb />beyond Psychology 375G and will be a graduate course. It is recommended<lb />that this course be a required course in the clinical program. After<lb /><lb />ee a lengthy discussion motion made and unanimously passed that this course<lb />be adopted.<lb /><lb />seminar in Behavior Modification - 469 (3). This course would be open<lb />to clinical, general-theoretical, and school students. After discussion<lb /><lb />it was moved and unanimously passed that this course be recommended for<lb />adoption.<lb /><lb />oeminar in Sensitivity Training - 471 (3) This course was unanimously<lb />approved for recommendation for adoption.<lb /><lb />Psychological Assessment I - 484 (3) This would be individual testing<lb />with a clinical approach. Approved.<lb /><lb />Change of Name;<lb /><lb />Projective Methods I. Change to Psychological Assessment II.<lb /><lb />Projective Methods II. Change to Psychological Assessment III.<lb /><lb />Individual Testing - 415. Change to Introduction to Individual Testing.<lb />To be added in the catalog: By permission of instructor.<lb /><lb />The above changes were approved.<lb /><lb />Dr. Long and Dr. Rogers were asked to check the clinical and general-theoretical<lb />&amp; graduate programs and determine if any revisions were felt to be necessary.</p>

          <lb />wz<lb /><lb />A proposal was made that 499a be made a formal course carrying 3 credit hours.<lb />The people who are taking it would be checked out in terms of format, writing<lb />style, presentation of proposal for thesis, etc. It would be offered as a<lb />seminar course. It was felt that would be most helpful in terms of processing<lb /><lb />theses. Motion made that this be referred back to the curriculum committee for<lb />further study.<lb /><lb />In view of the time it was moved that the curriculum changes for the undergraduate<lb />program be referred back to the Curriculum Committee for further study before<lb />being brought back before the staff. Motion unanimously passed.<lb /><lb />Dr. Martoccia, reporting for the Comprehensive Committee, read a letter from<lb />William Stallworth, a graduate student, requesting he be permitted to take<lb /><lb />the comprehensive examination in New York. He is currently enrolled in school<lb />there and had the approval of his advisor to have it sent there and she would<lb />proctor the examination and sign the pledge with him. Motion made and unanimously<lb /><lb />passed that this request be denied.
