The staff of the Psychology Department met in Rawl 232 at 4 o'clock p.m.,

Present: Dr. Clinton R. Prewett, Chairman, My. Robert Graham, Dr. C. T.
Martececia, Dr. Willie Mae Gillis, Dr. Ruby Bliss, Dr, John R,
Clarke, Dr, Benjamin Allen, Mr. Larry Byrd, Dr. A. V. Griffith,
lir., C. R. Dixon, Mrs, Hagel Stapleton, lr. Ed. Nicholson, Dr,
Julia Marshall, Mr. Gene Wood, and Mir, Larry Whitlock.
1) Dr. Prewett made several annovncements pertaining to recruiting efforts
for next year and tentative research proposals being considered. He pointed
out the difficulty of no small magnitude which East Carolina College faces
in getting grants because of the necessity of having a doctoral program in
psychology. He recalled that Dr, Vernon said that without 4 change in
orientation in Washington, D.C. we most likely would not be able to get
any sizeable training money for a Master's Degree. Nevertheless we intend

2) Dr. Tom Martoccia presented a veport from the Committee on Comprehensive
Examinations, The report was accepted as presented with the understanding
that it would be re-evaluated after its first administration, (Copy of
