<lb />ANNUAL REPORT OF PSYCHOLOGY DEPARTMENT<lb /><lb />Reporting Period: June 1, 1975 to May 31, 1976.<lb /><lb />I. Narrative<lb /><lb />Il.<lb /><lb />The Department of Psychology now has 24 faculty members, and continues to<lb /><lb />handle over 11,000 enrollments per year. In spite of the student demands on<lb /><lb />the faculty and the unavoidable lack of space and equipment, a fair amount of<lb />research has been conducted within the Department. A number of our faculty<lb /><lb />have had papers accepted at professional meetings, and articles published in<lb />professional journals. Dr. Charles Cliett has completed the establishment of<lb /><lb />a psychophysiological laboratory in the Department which has been and will con-<lb />tinue to be used by both faculty and students as a teaching aid and for research<lb />purposes. This year the proposal for a sixth year program in school psychology<lb />has been approved on campus and is awaiting final approval by the Board of<lb />Trustees of the Greater University. Final approval of this program will enable<lb />our school psychology graduates to be certified as Level II school psychologists.<lb />Several students were honored by Phi Beta Kappa affiliate at ECU. One of our<lb />undergraduate students (Ms. Deborah Baker) received a national award from the<lb />United States Air Force and is the first female student ever to be selected as<lb />a Corps Commander of an AFROTC unit. Another of our students (Larry Lundy)<lb />was nominated for a Rhodes Scholarship. Although we do not have a final count<lb />at this time, we shall probably have at least 12-15 of our students who will<lb />be going on to graduate level programs in psychology. Four students graduated<lb />Magna Cum Laude, and six Cum Laude.<lb /><lb />Two new faculty members were employed this year, two received tenure and five<lb />were promoted.<lb /><lb />Faculty<lb />1. a.
