Comment on what is being done to attain or to maintain a strong<lb /><lb />consistent faculty demand for higher quality student performance.<lb /><lb />In spite of the fact that we have had a good many students to elect<lb />psychology as a major not many students have ever graduated with a<lb />record of successful completion of the program. It is rather well<lb />known that the quality of work is demanding in several of our courses.<lb />Also, the experimental design problem and the statistics work have<lb />been helpful in upgrading student performance.</p>

          <lb />V. Departmental Development<lb /><lb />A. List areas of specialty within the field that are thought to be necessary<lb />or desirable to the present program or to the early expansion of the pro-<lb />gram in which the Department (1) has no qualified faculty member or (2)<lb />where the qualified faculty member within that field is within two years<lb />of retirement:<lb /><lb />We desire actually to have a Master's Degree in Industrial Psychology and<lb />we are not handicapped by the limitation implied in this question (we<lb /><lb />have qualified faculty members). We also would like to process a school<lb />psychologist degree which is being held up by the State Board of Education.<lb /><lb />B. List national honor society or societies in which Department is affiliated<lb />noting new affiliations since last report:<lb /><lb />The only affiliation which we would ultimately desire would be approval<lb />by the American Psychological Association for internship in clinical<lb />psychology. Since this is offered only to institutions granting a<lb />doctor's degree we cannot obtain this affiliation.<lb /><lb />C. List any honors or awards given to the Department since the last report:<lb /><lb />Ten of our students have been accepted for doctoral work at various<lb />Departments of Psychology throughout the country including the University<lb />of Georgia, the University of South Carolina, the University of North<lb />Carolina, John Hopkins University, and Bryn Mawr College.
