Manning, of Carollna<lb />Institute at 11 oTelock, A, M., which<lb />delighted the large crowd present. The<lb />concert exercises took place at the<lb />Academy at 3 oTclock, P. M,<lb /><lb />The programme was quite along one,<lb />including tifty-six pieces, consisting of<lb />songs, recitations, declamations, &amp;c.,<lb />each and every studenc rendered his<lb /><lb />part well. ~The entire exercises were<lb /><lb />a grand success and reflected much 1<lb /><lb />credit upon the pupils and their accom-<lb />plished teacher (Prof. Hassell.) Dr.<lb />Donelan, of St, Joseph, told the<lb />reporter of the Globe Democrat<lb />the following story. He said :<lb /><lb />oAfter the adjournment of a<lb />conyention a few years ago, Drs.<lb />Knight and Riley, of St. Joseph,<lb />started home in a sleeper. They<lb />had the lower berth end the<lb />weather was intensely hot. ~Dr.<lb />Knight was a very small man; in<lb />fact a boy in stature. Dr. Riley<lb />was big and fat.
