A heavy<lb />timber was being hoisted in position<lb />when it slipped and fell back on two of<lb />~the men. One ot them was badly cu<lb />on the head and hurt in the back, and<lb />one foot ot the other man was seyerely<lb />mashed.<lb /><lb />DonTt Drive Out The Bicycle.<lb />The report having gone out thet the<lb />new Lown Couucil was contemplating<lb />changing the ordinance relative to bi-<lb /><lb />side walks, petitions are being circulat"<lb />e1 asking ~he Councilmen to Jet the law<lb />remair. as itis. With such streets as<lb />we have in Greenville, a law keeping<lb />bicycles off the sidewalks would practi-<lb />caily mzan that they could not be used<lb />intown at all. There are a great many<lb />wheels here and a prohibition against<lb />their use would work a hardship in a<lb />number of cases. Bicycles have to be<lb />listed for taxation, and it would be<lb />unjust to the owners to make them pay<lb />taxes on what they are denied the<lb />privilege ot use or benefit from. Many<lb />people have purchased wheels during<lb />the past year with the expectation of the<lb />law remaining as itis, and it would be<lb />wrong after their money is invested to<lb />prohibit the use ot them. We hope<lb />the Councilmen will let the bicycle or-<lb />dinance remain as it is until Greenville<lb />has better streets.
