Last week a meeting was<lb />held in New York in tavor of the move.<lb />ment and a great deal cf interest was<lb />aroused aineng orthodox Hebrews.<lb />_ The object cf the Zionist propaganda,<lb />which was originated in Vienna by Dr.<lb />Herzl, is to encourage the Jews of all<lb />the world to restore Israel in Palestine<lb />and to establish there a Jewish govern-<lb />ment. It is an old, an abiding, and<lb />deeply rooted idea in Judaism. We<lb />* might say that ~t has slumbered ever<lb />: since the tall of Jerusalem, but for the<lb />circumstance that every  Sabbath there<lb />are prayers for its realization in the<lb />orthodox synagogues of every country,<lb />ineluding the United States.
