It, was<lb /><lb />the new method of drawing jnrors<lb />in the trial of. capital cases.<lb />Heretofore, unless otherwise de-<lb />manded by the defendant, the<lb />special venire. or the extra jurors,<lb />in capital capital cases, were sum-<lb />moned by the sheriff indiecrimi-<lb />nately from among the freehold-<lb />ers. But the last Legislature<lb />changed this by compelling all<lb />these extra jurors, or special<lb />venire, to be drawn from the jury<lb />box in open court.
