Notwith-<lb />standing the newspapers give warning<lb />alter weraiog in just such matters as<lb />this, people go right on alloving them-<lb />selves to be taken in by every stranger<lb />that comes along with something to<lb />offer. The above is but one among<lb />hundreds, yea thousands, of like inci-<lb /><lb />dents that occur all over the country.<lb /><lb />Right here in Pitt county we have<lb /><lb />known of people g giving peddlers $39 tor<lb />a clock when one just as good could be<lb />purchased. for one-fourth the money.<lb />We have known them to give $60 for a<lb />range when any stove dealer in Green"<lb />ville could sell them one just as good<lb />or half the money. But it<lb />seems that any oily tongued fellow can<lb />go through the towa. and country and<lb />find plenty of people on whom he can<lb />palm off his wares at a big price.<lb /><lb />There are plenty of home merchants<lb />and dealers,. good, honest men, who<lb />can supply you with all that is needed<lb />in the house or about the tarm, and it is<lb />wisdom to trade with them instead ot<lb />being taken in by every peddler that<lb />goes your way.
