The defendant<lb />owas. convicted and Governor<lb />Bussell-has pardoned bim. The<lb />Oxford ledger, a conservative<lb />and responsible paper, says of the<lb />matter:<lb />oThe jury that tried Harris was<lb />composed of members of the<lb />different parties, and Solicitor<lb />Bynum argued ably and earnestly<lb />that he was guilty according to<lb />the bill of indictment and Harris<lb />was conyicted and sentenced to<lb />the penitentiary for two years by<lb />Judge McIver...
