We<lb />would makes a suggestion that they be<lb />put to work where they will do a power<lb />ef good. The road from Gieat Swamp<lb />meeting house to arindle Creek, a<lb />distance of some 3 miles, and from the<lb />Shivers place to Grindle Creek on the<lb />Bethel road, a distance of some 2<lb />miles, are the worst roads on the north<lb />side of the River. The people have<lb />built a good bridge across the creek at<lb />the Carney farm and we think it nothin,<lb />but just for these two roads to have<lb />some benedts from the prisoners, We<lb />tiink they could be quartered comfort-<lb />ably at some point, say at Staten mill,<lb />and they would be convenient to both<lb />roids.<lb /><lb />Another<lb />should have some of the prison labor<lb />is that there are,no hands that live on<lb />them and all the hands have to come<lb />from quite a distance to work these<lb />We cannot see the<lb />keeping them working ina mile or two<lb />of town where the roads are in fair<lb />condition, when such roads as I speak<lb />of vre in-reach and the work done on<lb />them would be a lasting good.
