His name is William W.<lb />M. Hunter. A. Giersh,<lb />of Salem, is one of oldest Odd Fellows<lb />in the State. T. Whitfield, the agent of<lb />the Southern Express Company here,<lb />and one of the most highly esteemed<lb />citizens of the town, was born on the<lb />day and year that Odd-fellowship was<lb />introduced into the United States, viz:<lb />April 26th 1819. Mr. Whitfield took<lb />all the degrees in 1841 in old Domin-<lb />ion Lodge, No. 5, Portsmouth, Va.<lb />He was a charter member of Weldon<lb />Lodge No. 1, instituted in the same<lb />year, 1841.
