Pryor<lb />McDaneil, said to be the son of John~<lb />W. McDanell, of Warsaw, Ky,<lb /><lb />Yesterday afternoon a boy answer-<lb />ing the description in many respects<lb />was picked up by Chief of Police J. A,<lb />Woodall. ©<lb /><lb />There were eceveral things in the<lb />boy s appearance that suggested the<lb />possibility that he was the boy wanted<lb />The same blue gray<lb />eyes, the same youthful appearance,<lb />identically five feet seveninches high by<lb />measure, and his general weight being<lb />about 125 or 130 pounds, was enough<lb />to be strikingly similar to the boy<lb />wanted.<lb /><lb />Letters to Chief Woodall, of this<lb />city, and to Chief Heartt, of Raleigh,<lb />gave a description of the boy wanted in<lb />Kentucky. He was thought to be<lb />somewhere in this section. "<lb /><lb />The boy here gives his name as<lb />John McLawbon, and says he is trom }<lb />If be does not live in<lb />that county, as he says, he has evident-<lb />ly been there or else has got his facts<lb />cOnverning people there down ~pat.�<lb />He says lie knows the Sheriff of that<lb />county, and he also mentioned the<lb /><lb />in Kentucky.<lb /><lb />Pitt county,<lb /><lb />men there who<lb />are well known throughout the State.<lb /><lb />Some people here who have con-<lb />versed with the boy are under the<lb />ippression that the boy is from Pitt<lb />county, as he says, and that he is not<lb />very bright, while some think that the<lb />boy is not telling all he knows, and<lb />that he has more sense than he would<lb />have people believe.<lb /><lb />The boy says his valise containing<lb />his clothes, is in Roxboro, locked up in<lb /><lb />names of a number of<lb /><lb />Although the description tallies<lb />pretty well with the Kentucky boy, yet<lb />there is one thing that does not tally.<lb />That is his hair. ~The hair of theT<lb />McDanell boy 1s said to be brown.<lb />The hair ot this one is light colured and<lb />very curly. |<lb /><lb />Chief Woodall telegraphed to John<lb /><lb />ed had light curiy nair.<lb />could not go all the way by telegraph.<lb />A telephone line connects the town of<lb />Warsaw, Ky., with the outside world,<lb />©. account of the telephone wires being<lb />down it has been impossible to get an<lb />answer up to the time of this writing,<lb /><lb />In the meantime the boy is at lib-<lb />"| erty to go where ke pleases, as there<lb />isno au. hority to hold him unless<lb />it shall be proven pene beyond<lb /><lb />| FLECTOR. |<lb /><lb />The message |<lb /><lb />| night and preach in the Baptist church<lb /><lb />the shadow ota doubt that he is the<lb />boy wanted.<lb /><lb />McLawhorn, as he calls hiriself, is a<lb />book agent, and has been going through-<lb />out this section, trying to sell books.<lb />He says he ean neither read nor write.<lb />His parents are dead, he says, and he<lb />had to leave home because his guardian<lb />d~d not treat him right. He also says<lb />when he becomes 21 there will be fifty<lb />thousand dollars coming to him in his<lb />own right.<lb /><lb />Whether he is the same boy as is<lb />wanted in Kentucky, we cannot say.<lb />Under the zircustances, he should be<lb />given the benefit of the doubt."Dur-<lb />ham Sun.
