A very prom.<lb />jinent jurist says that so far, as he<lb />knows, it is the first time a govenor<lb />has been enjoined from bringing suits<lb />in his own courts; that the people of<lb />North Carolina are jealous ot the fed-<lb />eral courts, this being particularly the<lb />case west ot bere ; that he thinks this<lb />proceeding, tor this reason ill-advised ;<lb />that it will add immensely to the<lb />strength of the populist party in the<lb />state; that the governor will, if Simon-<lb />ton decides against kim at Greensboro<lb />April 6th, certainly take the case to the<lb />United States supreme court, which<lb />will hardly confirm such a decieion ;<lb />that if Simonton sets aside the injunc"<lb />that it will be equivalent to saying the<lb />state courts can settle the matter.<lb /><lb />There is, it seems, quite a little flurry<lb />as to who shall be the new commis"<lb />sioner of agriculture. All six of the couples<lb />were entertained at the home of<lb />Uncle Bob Tucker, who after the<lb />dimerent marriages, was closely<lb />related to all the principals there-<lb />to. Now come some of the sin-<lb />gular features of the case. " Uncle<lb />Bob, before the wedding, had in<lb />the lot of twelve individuals a<lb />daughter, a son, three grand<lb />aaughtere, one niece and one<lb />nephew. In the twelve there<lb />were a brother and sister, two<lb />sisters, two brothers, three cous-<lb />ins, two uncles, an aunt, four<lb />nieces and two nephews, and yet<lb />no one of the twelye persons<lb />married any one related tohim or<lb />herse:f, Another funny feature<lb />18 that before the weddings there<lb />were two named Hopkins, two<lb />Dunbara, two Chelfs, two Tuck-<lb />ers, two Mc Whorters, one Pendlc-<lb />ton and one Hood. After the<lb />omelet was done, the Dunbars<lb />and Hopkinses had gained two,<lb />the Pendletons, Chelfs and Me:<lb />Whorters had been exterminated:<lb />the Hoods had been increased by<lb />one, and the Tuckers had held<lb />their ground. The<lb />wonderful and remarkablo fact<lb />about this couple is that they<lb />are regular housekeepers, doing<lb />all the work that is done, both in<lb />and out of doors, for their own<lb />living. Mr. Johnson has a small<lb />cart on which he delivers freight<lb />from the depot to the stores for<lb />the merchants, who kindly belp<lb />him along in that way.
