A<lb /><lb />ing its passage.<lb />HOUSE.<lb /><lb />The House met at 10 oTclock.<lb />There was the greatest legislative<lb />sensation here today ever known in<lb />North Carolina. It occurred in the<lb />house of representatives. At 11:58<lb />oTclock Sutton, ot Cumberland, member<lb />of the committee to investigate the<lb />lease of the North Carolina railway. to<lb />which the senate substitute bill was re.<lb />ferred, arose. Cook, who is chairman<lb />of that special committee, was in the<lb />chair. Lusk presiding during the ear-<lb />Hileman, who was so hoarse that he<lb />spoke with difficulty, sat on the left of<lb />Cook. Sutton asked consent to cal up<lb />the resolution asking the supreme court<lb />to give tomorrow its opinion in the<lb />matter of the substitute for tae lease<lb />bill. His purpose was to gain time.<lb /><lb />Blackburn sprang to his feet and us<lb />the hands of the clock peinted to noon<lb />declared that the hour set for the spe"<lb />ci l order"the senate substitute lease<lb />bill"had arrived and that it, must be<lb />taken up.<lb /><lb />Both he and Sutton kept on their<lb />feet.
