The<lb /><lb />important part of this is to take the de-<lb /><lb />partment of agriculture and college out<lb /><lb />of the present hands and give it to the<lb /><lb />populists or republicans.<lb /><lb />McCaskey, to repeal all laws allow-<lb /><lb />ing grace on notes and dratts.<lb /><lb />Clark, to regulate the transportation<lb /><lb />of bicycles.<lb /><lb />Alexander, to change the pame of<lb />che Leuise yarn mills, of Mecklenburg.<lb />to the Louise mills.<lb /><lb />Grant, a resolution in favor of the<lb />arbitration treaty now pending in the<lb />United States senate. By suspension<lb />of the rules it wae taken up and adopt-<lb />ed. }<lb /><lb />Buuer, (by request) a memorial from<lb />the president of the» North Carolina<lb />railroad and directors emphatically<lb />denying the truth of the statement of<lb />President Hoffinan in his letter to Gov-<lb />ernor Russell in regard to the lease of<lb />the North Carolina railroad. The<lb />memorial is signed by S. B. Alexan-<lb />der, Lee S. Overman, Jno. Alliron, J.<lb />J. Young, W. C. Maxwell, C. W.<lb />Johnson, R. F. Hoke, H. W. Friesand<lb />V. E. Turner and the request is made<lb />that a joint committee be appointed<lb />with power to summons witnesses to<lb /><lb />~investigate the whole matter.
