The Greenville tobacco market has
closed for the holida,s. The season has
been marked with great success, the
sales up to this time reaching 4,509,975
pounds, This is an increase of nearly
one million pounds over last year. With
probably from 8 to 125 per cent more
tobacco than last year now in the hands
ot farmers tributary to this market, it is
not an overestimate to say that the mar-
ket will sell this year between 6,000,-
000 and 6,500,000 pounds. This is a
fine showing.

that the dwelling house of Mr.
Laughinghouse, near Grimesland,
destroyed by tire early Wednesday
night. The fire occurred about 7
oTclock, the building catching on the
rcot by sparks from the chimney.
When discovered ths flames had made
such headway that they could not be
checxed. ~Tne light from tae fire was
seen here.
The building and most of the furni-
ture were destroyed. There wa; some
insurauce on both but we could not
learn how much or the amount of the
loss.
Mr Laughinghouse had one of the
best houses in the county and this loss
