Opn Thursday the<lb />sham battle was executed to per<lb />fection. The A. &amp; M. College<lb />boys, opposing the Gaurds, com-<lb />mauded by Major Williams under<lb />Gereral CottenTs orders, made a<lb />~bold attack, firing a fierce and<lb />suppressing volley upon the<lb />Geaurds, which was instantly re-<lb />turned by General CottenTs charge<lb />which drove the College boys be-<lb />hind their works. Charge after<lb />charge from both armies and each<lb />retreating in order made the oc-<lb />casion one of great excitement<lb />and enjoyment to the twenty<lb /><lb />in all of this great excitement with<lb />battle cry after battle cry, that<lb />noble old Confederate and color<lb />bearer, Tom Conyers, »ever<lb />failed to hold high the battle flag<lb />we allloved so well.
