Let<lb />jt be distinctly understood that I<lb />am not their enemy and do not<lb />wish to commit myself or them to<lb />Republican and negro rule. I[<lb />trust the lesson will not have to|<lb />be taught before tie rank and file<lb />of the PeopleTs party realize where<lb />this road you now travel ends.<lb />Negro magisirates, sheriffs, con-<lb />stables and commissioners would |<lb />be a striking object lesson in<lb />North Carolina.
