Among those taking part in<lb />Senator Joues,<lb />chairman of the democratic National<lb />Committee ; Senator Faulkner, Chair-<lb />man of the Congressional Committee ;<lb /><lb />these conferences were<lb /><lb />Senator Butter, Chairman of the pop-<lb />ulist committee, and Senators German,<lb />Telier and Dubois,<lb />mitteeman Scott, of the democratic ad<lb /><lb />visory committee. It for<lb />those who desire the election of Bryan<lb />and the triumph of iree silver to know<lb />tuat the object of these conferences Was<lb />to add tu the certainty of that result,<lb />and that they were in every Way salis-<lb />factory to. those who particip.ted in<lb />them. More could not be told without<lb />a violation of confidence, and without<lb /><lb />und National eom"<lb /><lb />is enough<lb /><lb />which enable<lb />the McKisley crowd to throw obstacles<lb />in the way of certain plans. Suffice it<lb />,0 say that every man who participated<lb />in these conferences is certain that<lb />Bryan will be elected.<lb /><lb />Democrats are unsparing in their<lb />criticism of Secretary Carlisle, who, by<lb />the way, is going to take the stump in<lb />Kentucky for Palmer and Buckner, tor<lb />having written a letter saying in effect<lb />that he would redeem silver dollars in<lb />gold it the demand was made.
