It was interest-<lb />ing on the one hand because it was<lb />upon a subject that so many of us<lb />knew so little about and again because<lb />so much ciear, plain information was<lb />given upon it. He said that these rays were<lb />destined to te used very largely by the<lb />Medical profession, and illustrated wha<lb />could be done with them by some things<lb />he bad done himself.<lb /><lb />Dr. Kemp P. Battle, Prof. of Histo-<lb />ry at the University followed with ad-<lb />mirable paper upon oSome Observa-<lb />tions on the Hundred YearsT History of<lb />our State and National Constitution.�<lb /><lb />Dr. J. S. Bassett, Prof. of History at<lb />Trinity College, gave us a charming<lb />paper on oThe Life ot the Spirit in<lb />Historical Studies�. Dr. Bassett is a<lb />live man and is doing a great work in<lb />collecting historical data.<lb /><lb />oThe Place of the Classics in a Lib-<lb />eral Education� was pleasingly presented<lb />by Prof. Hugh Morson of the Raleigh<lb />Male Academy and W. 8. H.R.<lb /><lb />Moonlight Excursion.<lb /><lb />Our young people had another very<lb />enjoyable moonlight excursion down the<lb />river, on Steamer Myers, Friaay night,<lb />under the auspices of the base ball club.<lb />The steamer left at 9 oTvlock, went<lb />about ten miles and returned at 12.<lb />About thirty couples and some stags<lb />were along, and everybody seemed. to<lb />have a good time. The night was de_<lb />lightful for such an cutting.
