The only<lb />funds available for doing any work<lb />there is what arises from the sale of<lb />lots, and such sales occur 80 seldom<lb />that not sufficient money comes in to<lb />keep up necessary repairs. Sometime<lb />ago the hard winds blew down much of<lb />the fencing, and the grounds also need<lb />cleaning up, but the amount on hand<lb />lacks about $10 being enough to do this<lb />work. We  undetstand that seme<lb />young ladies will call on the citizens<lb />for contributions to help on the work<lb />and they should mect a cheerful re<lb />sponse.<lb /><lb />It would be well if the money arising<lb />from the occasional sale of lots could be<lb />used only for adorning the cemetery,<lb />and some other means-devised. to-yraise<lb />what is needed for keeping .up repairs<lb />and cleaning out the grounds. In this<lb />way it could be made far more oattrac-<lb />tive than it nowis. One of the<lb /><lb />not recaptured for over 48 hours.<lb />Allowing tigers and other wild animals<lb />to escape out ef confinement seems &amp;<lb />common event in Mysore. During the<lb />time of the late maharajah one got out<lb />of his cage in the menagerie, and also<lb />during his fatherTs reign a tiger loafed<lb />all over the fort a whole day, going in<lb />and out of peopleTs houses, but strange<lb />to'say, on none of these occasions has<lb />anyone been injured.<lb /><lb />The tiger in the present instance is<lb />one which is kept by his highnessT dairy<lb />to keep away the oevil eye� from the<lb />cattle. He was netted for Lord Lans-<lb />downe to shoot when his excellency<lb />visited Mysore a few years agé and isa<lb />splendid brute. The dairy is a very<lb />large yard, with open sheds all round,<lb />in which the cattle are tied, the tigerTs<lb />cage being Close to one end and a foun-<lb />tain near.the other.
