C., March 28."The<lb />particulars of a peculiar marriage have<lb />just been received here. ~The event was<lb />celebrated inT Goldsboro last Wednes-<lb />day night. Miss Sallie Lee Mitchell<lb />and Mr. John D. Smith are the names<lb />of the contracting parties, both of whom<lb />formerly resided in Winston. Recently<lb />Mr. Smith sent out invitations announc-<lb /><lb />Goldsboro. Miss Mitchell, his present<lb />bride, was to be one of the attendants.<lb />She left here for that city for the pur-<lb />pose of witnessing the coming nuptiais.<lb />After her arrival there, however, she<lb />met Mr. Smith, and the two (who, by<lb />the way, were old sweethearts) renewed<lb />their former affections. The first invi-<lb />tations were then called in, and Mr.<lb />Smith, in a few: days, sent out a fresh<lb />obatch notifying his triends of his<lb />change of mind. According to the<lb />first. announcement he was to have been<lb />married in the First Presbyterian<lb />church at Goldsboro, but the marriage<lb />took place at a private residence. Those who aid<lb />know it are ambitiout astronomers and<lb />mathematicians. They find that the<lb />first full moon after the spring equinox<lb />put in an appearance on this coast short-<lb />ly after 10 oTclock Saturday night ; and<lb />it is a fact that the first Sunday after the<lb />first full moon after the spring equinox<lb />is Easter Sunday the world over. When the moon filled Satur-<lb />day night, reckoning by Pacific-cost-<lb />time, it was already Sunday in New<lb />York and London, Consequently, for<lb />the East and the remainder of the<lb />world, excepting the Pacific coast, the<lb />first Sunday after the first full moon<lb /><lb />until next Sunday.<lb /><lb />' Next 'to Egypt. 3<lb />But wasnTt it dark last night on<lb />that portion of main street north, of<lb />J.
