Itis very probable the railroad<lb />will soon make some changes in.sched-<lb />ules to conform to the new schedule on<lb />the Washington branch, aad if our peo-<lb />pie will express themselves in time a<lb />schedule can be secured for this road<lb />that will be more convenient to the<lb />business interests of the town. We un-<lb />derstand that Kinston is manifesting an<lb />interest in this movement with the same<lb />purpose in view. The RerLector<lb />suggests that our business men hold a<lb />a meeting as early as possible, decide on<lb />what change is desired, have a commit-<lb /><lb />~Itee to confer with the business men of<lb />Kinston and see if the same request can |:<lb /><lb />be sent from both towns to the railroad<lb />authorittes. It this is done we believe<lb />the railroad will make just such a<lb />schedule as will best serve the business<lb />On the contrary if no<lb />action is taken and conflicting requests<lb />should be made the railroad people will<lb />be unable to decide what is wanted. Let<lb />Greenville get a move on this matter.<lb /><lb />of these towns,<lb /><lb />Take a New Census.<lb /><lb />The Rerzxcror is of the opinion<lb />that a new census of the population of<lb />It is<lb />ce:tain that the last government, cen-<lb />gis, 1890, comes far short of doing the<lb />town justice and some step shoold be<lb />taken to set us right and_let the out-<lb />side world know what we have here.<lb />Thé government census of 1880 gave<lb />Greenville 912 population, and in: 1890<lb />the number reported was 1,937, an_ in-<lb />crease of over one hundred per cent. in<lb />the ten years. In the five years since<lb />that census was completed the popula-<lb />tion of the town has increased largely<lb />until it is believed there are now: fully<lb />3,000 people here. Because in<lb />the first place had he been buried alive<lb />his strength was not sufficient to have<lb />bursted the coffin.<lb /><lb />2nd"Oftimes the, gas generated in a<lb />coffin from a corpse that is kept out<lb /><lb />some time is sufficient toblow the coffin<lb />sides asunder.
