Mr. St. John issued an iron<lb />clap order relating to people traveling<lb />_ over-his:road on passes. Each con-<lb />_ ditgtor was given a list of those who<lb />are entitled to travel without a pass.<lb />The list is very short and includes the<lb />president, zeneral manager and one or<lb />two others. Superintendent Moncure,<lb />- for instance, can travel over his own<lb />division without a pass, but if he gets<lb />on another division he must show his<lb />carboard.. No conductor or engineer,<lb />off duty, can travel without a pass.<lb />Phe gule was to go into effect January<lb />Ist, and go into effect it did, as a good<lb />many old. pass-holders have found to<lb />comeing<lb />On January Ist the traveling aud-<lb />itor got on a Carolina Central train at<lb />Monroe, and in the course of time<lb />here came along through the car one<lb />of the S. The auditor was near about<lb />__ paralyzed, and began to parley. The<lb />~ conduetor reached for the bell cord and<lb />the auditor handed up the cash.<lb />A director of the Seaboard Air Line<lb />_ Company, who lives in Charlotte, had<lb />_ to go down into his pocket tor $8.32<lb />yesterday because he had oforgottenT<lb />_ his pass. In three days the conductors<lb />have oheld up the auditor, a director,<lb />two of the attorneys for the road, two<lb />engineers, one conductor and one str-<lb />tion'agent. All had to pay the cash.<lb />On the K.S., oold things have passed<lb />_ away and all things have become new,<lb />or words to that effect. If you want<lb />_ to ride on a pass on that road you have,<lb />to show it. Capt. Harry. There is also rubbing with the<lb />tips of the fingers, which is very<lb />soothing when done lightly and of-<lb />ten induces sleep when practiced on<lb />the head and wrists. |<lb /><lb />An invigorating motion is given<lb />by resting the base of the hand on<lb />arm or body, placing tips of fingers<lb />firmly on the skin and drawing to-<lb />ward the base of hand, working in<lb />this manner from wrist to shoulder<lb />and from foot to thigh.
